Help Centre
Welcome to PlanRunner, this website will allow you to watch your Projects come alive as they get executed!
Who is it for?
PlanRunner is optimally suited to projects plans that are created and then have a 'run' phase where the plan tasks
are performed in sequence or in parallel, an implementation plan is an ideal example of this: a Project Manager sets-up the plan, at some point the plan is
then 'run', maybe over a weekend, and the people responsible for performing the tasks (called resources) mark their tasks
as passed or failed and how long they actually took. The PM can take these timings and update their project plan so next time the task timings
are more accurate. It also enables the PM to see where the real bottlenecks and time-hogs are.
Of course PlanRunner is not limited to implementation plans, it can also be used for building planning,
disaster recovery planning, product launches, exhibition setup, in fact anywhere you need to co-ordinate people, especially across multiple
locations.
What it does for you
PlanRunner allows you to share your project with your users, allowing you to easily hold planning meetings across
multiple locations and when you implement your plan allow your users (resources) to update their tasks as they do them. When complete you
will have captured the actual times and success or failure of tasks for you to feed back into future iterations of your projects.
It also allows you to place all information relevant to the successful execution of the project in one place and provide easy
and quick access to your colleagues without them having to install expensive software.
Getting started
The quickest way to understand what this tool can do for you is to watch the training video then try the demonstration logins.
-
Norman's access allows you to experience the website as a user. We recommend trying this one first.
-
Peter's access allows you to experience the website as a Project Manager.
There are two projects already loaded for you to try out:
-
The Making Coffee project is a short project that resets and repeats every 15 minutes, the tasks will automatically get
completed by the website so you can see it update in real-time, random tasks will fail.
Please feel free to change anything.
-
The Building Project is a longer project that resets and repeats once a day.
Once you have tried these out, you might like to create a subscription for your company, you can create your own users and try with one of your own projects.
Projects are always secure in their subscription, users usually are too but in special circumstances you can allow users in other subscriptions whole or partial access.

Plan Runner Project Lifecycle
Various people are involved in putting a plan through it's paces. The table below lists all the steps in running a plan
through
PlanRunner and who normally does them:
Page layout
Every page on the website has four areas, they are highlighted with red, green, blue and brown dashed boxes in this screenshot:
The Red Title area
Clicking the website name will take you to the home page.
Click on help centre to open help for this page in another tab on your browser,
the Help tab at the right of the blue area shows the same help but in a tab overlaying the current window.
The website home page is slightly different and will take you to the top of the help system.
Finally the login section shows who is currently logged in and a logout link, or a link to login if no-one is logged in.
Underneath the user name it shows their access level and if they are part of more than one subscriptions a drop down arrow
that shows a list of the subscriptions they are a member of.
The Green Breadcrumb menu
The breadcrumb menu allows you to navigate around the website.
The left-hand side shows where you are within the website, the right-hand side shows where you can go to.
Depending on your access rights it will show different options.
For example, the menu below is from the View Project page and is what the Project Manager sees:
|
This is where you are within the website |
This is where you can go |
A normal user sees a different menu as several of the items on the Project Manager menu are irrelevant:
The Blue area
This is where you will be presented with whatever the page is about.
The Brown footer area
An area for standard website links concerning your privacy, terms and raising support requests.
